Health Care

Insecurity Insight monitors attacks on health care in Haiti.

Based on Insecurity Insight data, the Haiti chapter of the 2023 Safeguarding Health in Conflict Coalition report identified at least 40 incidents of violence against or obstruction of health care in Cameroon in 2023, compared to nine in 2022 and 15 in 2021. In these 40 incidents, at least 33 health workers were kidnapped and health facilities were forcibly entered on at least eight separate occasions. Violence against health by gangs (including 400 Mawozo and Kokorat San Ras gang members) in Haiti more than quadrupled between 2022 and 2023, reflecting the wider deterioration in security over this period.
