According to the SHCC, at least 29 health workers were kidnapped in 2021. The majority of victims were employed by health INGOs and in most cases were abducted in groups of up to three or four people. Kidnappings  commonly took place while staff were travelling to provide health care to remote areas of the country; often the vehicles they were in were seized by their abductors.
